Residual Current Sensors – Important Updates of BRCS01 and BRCS02
Dear Valued Customer
As part of our continuous improvement process, design optimization has been made to facilitate greater harmonization with electric vehicle charging applications worldwide.
Description of Change
Hardware Enhancements: TVS which are marked red in the diagram have been added, and a 10K Ohm limiting resistor which is marked blue in the diagram has been added.

Firmware Improvement: Firmware has been updated to make the sensors more robust against nuisance tripping. Two types of fluxgate technologies can be selected by customers.
Material Change: Instead of polyurethane, silicon gel has been used for PCBA and coil coating. Epoxy resin is still coated above the silicon gel to fix the shielding wire firmly for the externally mounted version of BRCS01(BRCS01-ADC-H1, BRCS01-DC6-H1, BRCS01-ADC-H2, and BRCS01-DC6-H2).
Customer Impact of Change and Recommended Action
Although quite some customers have sent us feedback that the above changes have no impact on their charging controller design, we still suggest customers investigate the above changes on their application and take corrective actions if required.
Reason for Change
Unlike traditional Din-rail installed RCD, built-in RCD/RDC-DD at electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) is still a new application. As a leading company in the field of residual current protection, Bituo keeps improving its AC/DC residual current sensors from large-scale applications worldwide, to make them more robust and reliable.

“X01“, “X02“, “K01“ or “K02“ are printed on the BRCS01/02 sensor housing to distinguish the sensors with the above changes from those without the above changes. An illustration is shown as follows.

Additional Notes
The meaning of the options are as follows
X01: closed-loop fluxgate, with high-level output at the trip pin during calibration
X02: closed-loop fluxgate, without high-level output at the trip pin during calibration
K01: open-loop fluxgate, with high-level output at the trip pin during calibration
K02: open-loop fluxgate, without high-level output at the trip pin during calibration

Calibration without high-level output at the trip pin (X02 / K02)

Calibration with high-level output at the trip pin (X01 / K01)
Customers can choose the sensor technology and calibration indication type by adding “_K01”, “_K02”, “_X01” and “_X02” after the standard ordering number. For example, the ordering number of BRCS01-ADC-H2_X01 presents a sensor with closed-loop fluxgate technology and high-level output at the trip pin during calibration.
BRCS01/02 sensors ordered after October 1st, 2023 without adding any option code will be delivered the same as the product with the “K02“ option – open-loop fluxgate, without high-level output at the trip pin during calibration.
